Student Learning

Friday, March 13, 2020 General, News & Updates

Good Afternoon, SFA Families!

As promised I wanted to update you regarding our mandated state school closure.  Here are a few important announcements:

  • Student Learning
    • We are committed to providing our students with access to learning materials for our scheduled closure.  The teachers, staff, and I spent this morning in school putting together learning resources for our students.  We understand that every family does not have Internet access or personal devices at home.  With that understanding in mind, we will open SFA School for a limited time on Monday, March 16th for students and families to pick-up books, learning packets, personal belongings, and other resources.  I highly encourage you to take advantage of this time to gain access to valuable materials that you can use with your child(ren) over the next two weeks.
    • SFA School will be open on Monday, March 16th from 9:00 A.M. – Noon for families and students to pick-up materials that teachers prepared today for them.  If this time does not work for your family, please email me and we will look at potential alternative arrangements.  We have materials for all students Pre-K through 8th Grade so please take the time to come and pick-up the learning materials.
    • If possible, our students in 4th – 8th Grades are encouraged to login to Google Classroom to check for assignments from teachers.  In addition, all students in Pre-K through 8th Grade have First in Math logins and students in Pre-K through 6th Grade have Reading Eggs logins.  If you need additional copies of these logins, we can provide them for you on Monday during our scheduled open time.
    • Over the course of the state mandated closure, please feel free to email me, Mrs. Carr, and the teachers.  As always, we will be prompt in answering questions and helping you where needed.  Teachers will also be checking their Class Dojo messages.
  • Food
    • We understand that many of our families rely on school for Breakfast and Lunch each day as well as After School Snack or Cold Supper if your child(ren) stay for CARES.  We have been asked to be a potential Emergency Food Distribution site for Montgomery County for the next few weeks.  Once we have more information about this program, we will pass that onto you.  I strongly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity once it becomes available.

I will continue to provide updates for you and your family as they become available.  Thank you for your continued patience and prayers.  I look forward to seeing you on Monday to pick-up your learning materials for your students!

Sincerely,

Bridget M. Tigue
